Automotive Apprenticeships Training Programmes

Bosch’s Industry training programmes. The Bosch Automotive Apprenticeship Programme provides the knowledge, skills and qualifications required to set candidates on the path to an exciting career as an automotive technician.


What is involved in our industry-leading programme?

17 blocks of high quality, engaging training over 3 years at one of our Bosch Service Training facilities.

Excellent training to support apprentices in achievement of a Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance level 3 Standards Apprenticeship

Development of knowledge and skills across a wide range of brands and vehicle systems both in the workplace and at our Training Centre

Paid employment at a local independent workshop, carefully selected by Bosch

Use of industry leading diagnostic tools to repair and maintain the latest vehicle technology

Learning about Electric Vehicle technology and cutting edge automotive developments

Certifications and Qualifications

The Apprenticeship Qualification

With support from Bosch and employers, apprentices with a passion for motor vehicles will earn as they learn and kick start a successful career as an automotive technician.

An apprenticeship involves paid employment whilst gaining essential skills, knowledge and behaviours related to the course of study. The apprentice will not need to contribute to the study costs.

The Apprenticeship Qualifications and achievements:

Successful apprentices will achieve:

Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard – Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) or

Level 3 Framework Apprenticeship (dependent upon UK country)

Functional Skills (or equivalent) to Level 2 in English and Maths*

F Gas Refrigerant Handling Certification

Added benefits and additional to the apprenticeship standard become available to those who successfully complete the apprenticeship end point assessment.

4 courses from the Bosch Diagnostic Technician Programme:

VSE1 - Essential Test Procedures

VSTD9 - Oscilloscope Operation nd Signal Test Methods

VSG18 - Engine Management Diagnosis of systems and components

VSD12- Essential Diesel Knowledge

* All candidates will be required to undertake an initial assessment including those who have already attained GCSE grades 4 and above.

Programme Delivery Model

Block Training

During the 3 year apprenticeship, training is delivered through a series of part week training blocks at one of Bosch’s high quality training centres. Blocks of training are preceded with a series of interactive and engaging webinars (attended from the workplace) to prepare the apprentice for each training block.

Whilst attending training at the Bosch training centre, all travel, accommodation and subsistence fees are paid for by the employer. Apprentices will stay in a hotel familiar with the requirements of apprentice safeguarding. Transport, to and from the hotel to the training centre, will be provided along with food and refreshments during the training block.

Bosch has a high focus not only on the quality of the training programme, but also for its participants’ welfare both in our training centres and when staying at allocated accommodation. Support is always on hand and apprentices quickly build supportive peer groups to help develop ongoing personal confidence and independence as part of the residential training programme.

Progress Reviews

It is important that progress is regularly reviewed to meet the individual needs of apprentices. Progress reviews will be regularly organised in the workplace as well being conducted digitally. This is an opportunity for the trainer to engage with the employer and the apprentice to ensure all parties are confident that sufficient progress is being made. Action plans and targets will be agreed to support continual development and timely progress towards the End Point Assessment.
